Field Notes
One artifact, a considered write-up, and one thing I didn't have before. A place, a making, or a principle — monthly, and only when it clears the bar. Published here first.
Harold Walker Jetty
Built in 1986 and named for Harold Walker, whose Vega ferry served the island for 20 years until 1974.
Cape Tourville
An 11-metre automated lighthouse from 1971, standing 126m above the sea — and a fine vantage over Freycinet, with Wineglass Bay in the distance.
Clarkes Beach
Known to the Arakwal people as Cavvanbah — 'the meeting place' — beside mainland Australia's most easterly point.
How to Be
Know who you are and what you believe in — then stand up for it, even if you stand alone.
kunanyi / Mount Wellington
The concrete spire on the summit is the NTA Tower, broadcasting FM radio and ABC and SBS digital TV across Hobart.
Coles Bay
The gateway to Freycinet on Tasmania's east coast — an oyster farm in the bay, wineries down the road, and roughly 300 days of sun a year.
Train Station
Rain never reads as heavy in a still — so I turned the video into a loop and let the storm move.
