Train Station
Caught in heavy rain and a hard wind at a train station, I sheltered under an awning — somewhat successfully — and tried to photograph the walls of water sweeping across the platform. The orange safety line was the one bit of colour holding the frame together.
But rain always looks less intense in a photo than it feels. A still couldn’t carry the surreal, almost CGI quality of standing in it. So I went back to the video I’d taken and made an animated loop instead — let the water actually move across the platform. The motion is the whole point; it’s the part a single frame can’t tell you.
the lesson Rain never reads as heavy in a still — so I turned the video into a loop and let the storm move.
